Many of the roughly 2.5 million unemployed people in the UK are not yet ready for unsupported commercial employment. In the right environment however, a large number are able to be economically productive while building the skills they need to gain sustainable employment in the commercial sector. Social enterprises are crucial in providing jobs to this category of people, yet despite some excellent examples there is a great need for more of these jobs.
The Social Business Partnership will be an intermediary that supports the scaling and replication of these social enterprises, strengthening links to private and public sector organisations and enabling them to get even more people out of entrenched unemployment and into sustainable jobs.
