The Shaftesbury Partnership is committed to catalyzing social reform and action in the 21st Century to rival the explosion of mass philanthropic engagement and activity last seen in the 18th and 19th Century in England – which was spearheaded by, among others, the likes of Lord Shaftesbury. SP has a unique philosophy based on its history, inspiration, and members.

Central to our approach is a commitment to professionalism, operational excellence, and a belief that many of the most deep rooted social problems today have a behavioural dimension that should not be overlooked. We recognise that fear, or lack of trust, lie at the heart of these social problems; and that strategies to reduce fear and build trust can be much more effective than traditional resource-intensive interventions.

For 170 years, the name Shaftesbury has been synonymous with radical solutions to pressing social issues. The Shaftesbury Partnership is a new social reform organisation, not to be confused with the organisation formerly known as Shaftesbury Society, now known as Livability: www.livability.org.uk
